The Clairfield Hotel (formerly Aden Hotel) in Mudgee embarked on a significant transformation to enhance its guest experience. Originally built in the 1960s, the hotel had undergone multiple upgrades over the years. The owners, having recently refurbished the ground-floor rooms, sought to modernise guest facilities, expand dining areas, and add premium suites. Renascent was engaged early through an ECI process to provide buildability advice and collaborate with architects, interior designers, and engineers.

Challenges and Solutions:

  • Live Environment: The hotel remained operational throughout construction. Careful staging ensured minimal disruption, with works strategically planned so wings of the hotel could remain open while others were under construction.
  • Independent Upper-Level Construction: A new level was added above existing suites using intumescent-coated structural steel and an Ultrafloor slab system. This allowed for a faster build while meeting fire safety requirements.
  • Specialty Installations: A one-tonne mosaic-tiled pizza oven was positioned before enclosing the kitchen walls, requiring precise coordination.
  • Services Upgrades: The project involved complex stormwater and sewer upgrades, ensuring long-term sustainability.

The result is a modern, luxurious space that stays true to the client’s vision, seamlessly blending contemporary design with the hotel’s heritage. The Clairfield Hotel now offers guests an elevated experience while maintaining the charm that has made it a local icon.
